Monte Rio for dinner

Long (10 hour ) drive from Yosemite back to Monte Rio to see an old schoolfriend (Geoff) for dinner at his home. The drive involved a typical UK bank holiday crawl as roads from Lake Tahoe & Yosemite converge into a huge tailback which added an hour & a half but did facilitate a picture of the "oldest saloon in the USA" and took us by the largest windfarm I've ever seen just outside San Francisco . Our arrival ijn Monte Rio was complicated by lack of cellphone coverage & only being able to find tourists to ask directions.  A kind shopkeeper allowed us use of her phone & the result was an excellent meal & great conversation with someone that I have only seen once in 45 years. After breakfast in the morning we went for a walk in the local Redwoods before setting off for San Francisco.
