After leaving Blenheim, we drove down to Lake Tekapo via the coast road to Kaikoura stopping to see the seal colony on the way. An overnight in Rangiora on the outskirts of Christchurch & we headed on virtually empty roads to the lakes. We found a place to stay in Wanaka and went down to the lake to sit & take in the colour of the lake and admire the surrounding scenery - the pictures cannot do justice to this or Lakes Pukaiki & Wanaka which we saw on subsequent days. On our last day in Wanaka we took a jet boat ride ( powered by a 6litre V8 & capable of 80 kph) across the lake and down & back up through the rapids on the Clutha River - great fun. The following day we drove to Oamaru via Moeraki to see the boulders & visited the yellow eyed penguin colony - shame they weren't in but a few seals were ! A drive a flight & Malaysia here we come !*!
